Interpretative Information

While SSB antibodies are typically the serological hallmark of Sjogren's syndrome, a small proportion of patients will be SSB antibody negative. It is also positive in up to 15% of SLE patients.

A definitive clinical diagnosis should not be based on the results of a single diagnostic method, but should only be made by the physician after all clinical and laboratory findings have been evaluated. This assay has a specificity of 88.9% and a sensitivity of 96.0%.
