Interpretative Information

Jo-1 antibodies can be found as markers in polymyositis/dermatomyositis (prevalence approx. 25%) but also in patient with intestinal pneumonitis and in some children with myositis. Patients with Jo-1 antibodies tend to have a more severe form of disease with a tendency to relapse.

A definitive clinical diagnosis should not be based on the results of a single diagnostic method, but should only be made by the physician after all clinical and laboratory findings have been evaluated. This assay has a specificity of 100.0% and a sensitivity of 72.0%
