Interpretation

PRESUMPTIVE POSITIVE screening results can be confirmed by LC/MS by physician request. CONFIRMED POSITIVE results indicate the presence of the CONFIRMED drug or drug class.

Insufficient volume; improper labeling; 24-hour collection

Methodology

Screen: Immunoassay; Confirmation: LC/MS

Test Consists

Qualitative screen for the presumptive presence of drug and drug classes of abused drugs as follows: amphetamine/methamphetamine; barbiturates; benzodiazepines; cannabinoids; cocaine metabolite; methadone; methaqualone; opiates; propoxyphene; oxycodone; fentanyl. Presumptive positive screen results can be confirmed by liquid chromatography / mass spectrometry (LC/MS, quantitative) at physician request.

If your patient has a presumptive positive result, a confirmation test may be added on by contacting the laboratory within 72 hours at x1-2120 or emailing the Toxicology Group Email with the patient information.
