Wooden shaft swabs; calcium alginate swabs; improper labeling; delay in transport > 1 hour; urine; transport media other than those specified.

Interpretation
A positive result indicates the presence of viable Chlamydia trachomatis in the specimen.
Methodology
Culture isolation in McCoy cells of the organism. Confirmation is by immunofluorescent antibody testing.
