Hard stools will not be processed as they are not indicative of Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, or Irritable Bowel Disease.

Storage and Transport

Refrigerated <72 hours from collection

Reference Values

< 50 ug/g: Normal

50 - 120 ug/g: Borderline

>120 ug/g: Abnormal

Interpretation

Normal results indicate that Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, or Irritable Bowel Disease is unlikely. Consider Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other diagnoses.

Borderline results should be repeated in 2 weeks.

Abnormal results should be correlated with patient's clinical condition and potentially confirmed with a colonoscopy and biopsy.
