Pleural fluid in leak-proof container, 0.5 mL [0.2 mL minimum], frozen
***Centrifuge all specimens for minimum of 3 minutes, transfer 0.5 mL supernatant to transport tube, and freeze.***
Rejection Criteria
Non-pleural fluid specimens, specimens with visible blood or WBCs, turbid specimens, BAL specimens, specimens at room temperature >24 hours, insufficient quantity, unlabelled specimens
